Plants prostrate herbs. Stem small with crowded leaves. Petiole fistular, 30-34 cm long, setose and scabrous hairy; leaf blade 17-18.5 cm x 20-23 cm (-27 cm x 33 cm), shallow or deeply 5-lobed, margin entire or irregularly dentate, base cordate, apex acute, both surfaces scabrous hairy. Tendrils absent. Plant monoecious. MALE FLOWERS: Solitary axillary, ca. 8 cm across, pedicel up to 9 cm long, fistular, setose. Calyx campanulate, tube/cup 1.5-2.0 cm x 1.5 cm; lobes 5, 1.5-1.7 cm long, linear-lanceolate, reflexed, hairy. Corolla campanulate, 7 cm x 8 cm; tube 3.5-4.5 cm long; lobes 5, 3.5-4 cm x 3.2 cm, apex acute to acuminate, pubescent or puberulent on both surfaces, yellow or orange yellow. Stamens 3; filaments free, 12-15 mm long, dilated at base; anthers connivent to form cylindrical head, ca. 10 mm long, one 1-celled, two 2-celled, linear. Pistillodes absent. FEMALE FLOWERS: Solitary axillary, 8 cm x 13.5 cm, pedicel 2 cm long. Calyx tube 7 mm long, lobes 2 mm long, linear, hairy. Corolla 8 cm x 13.5 cm, yellow; lobes 5, 5 cm x 4 cm, apex acuminate, green. Staminodes 3. Tricarpellary, syncarpous, ovary inferior, ovoid, 1-locular, puberulent, placentation parietal; style 1, 2 cm long; stigmas 3, each deeply bilobed, papillose. Fruit variable in shape and size. Seeds numerous, white, ovate, ca. 20 mm, marginate.
